When Peggy Tabachka’s cat disappeared in October she thought she would never see it again, until she heard its meowing coming from an unexpected location.
Boo, Tabachka’s cat disappeared while workers were pouring concrete around her backyard pool. Later the women, grieving for her cat was surprised by a faint meowing coming from under the concrete. Apparently Boo had found an opening under the concrete and then had her escape route cut off when it was poured.
Tabachka spent the next two days, with the help of friends, trying to free her pet. The frantic homeowner even called on the Cranberry Fire Department for help. A firefighter suggested she call Metarko Landscaping for help.
Unearthing the cat was going to require tearing out part of the concrete, which was fine with the pet owner who stated she was willing to sacrifice the pool if necessary to free Boo.
Metarko workers removed a large section of the newly installed concrete walkway using a circular saw and sledgehammers. Then John Depace of Metarko, laying on the ground, was able to reach into a deep, narrow opening and pull a dirty but healthy Boo out from what was very nearly her grave.
With the help of brochure printers companies can turn a situation such as this into a promotional bonanza, especially since Metarko, did not even charge for the rescue.
