Cranberry Township bags awards for communication

In a recent statewide contest, Cranberry Township won several communication awards.

Cranberry took home the 25th annual Outstanding Citizen Communication Award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS), which represents 1,454 townships. The honor was the top prize in the association's 48th annual Citizen Communication Contest. Every year, the contest rewards Pennsylvania townships whose communications and resident programs shine.

Cranberry was also recognized for its newsletters, social media, and residents’ guide.

According to Adam Osterrieder, Cranberry's director of technology and communications, said:

"These awards represent how all the township department work together to communicate with our residents, businesses, and customers so that they have the information they need in a timely manner."

The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors will give Cranberry the award at the 94th annual Educational Conference, which will take place from April 17 to 20 in Hershey.

Townships could submit entries to eight categories, including websites, social media, newsletters (both electronic and printed, as well as most improved), annual reports, and cable television programming.

Readability, attractiveness, and effectiveness of the information communicated are all taken into consideration. Top-notch newsletter printing, for instance, can make the difference between a crisp, easy-to-read look and an unattractive and indecipherable one.

Bruce Mazzoni, chairman of Cranberry's Board of Supervisors, said the board was “truly honored” at the recognition from PSATS.
