Cranberry rec center to hold mobility exercise class

Next month, the exercise class Muscles and Mobility will be held at the Cranberry Township Parks and Rec Center for any residents interested in a low-impact way to increase their mobility and fitness.

Designed to help people improve their mobility, the class is similar to the Body Pump and Group Barbell glass, except that it trades out the heavy weighted squats and lunges with light weight cardio bursts. Instructor Nancy Triscuit will guide participants through how to use low weights and high repetitions to burn fat, increase lean muscle mass and bone density, and strengthen the entire body. Attendees can choose to use dumbbells, barbells, or even no weights at all.

Organizers ask that participants do bring mats, as they will not be provided. The class is open to people of all fitness levels, and it may be especially helpful to middle-aged adults who have noticed decreasing muscle mass or bone density.

The Muscles and Mobility class is slated for Monday, March 8, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. It will be held at the Venango Trail Fitness Studio in the Municipal Building. Space is limited and preregistration is required. To register, visit the organizer’s website.
