Swarthmore College will be hosting events next month on its campus, which may interest residents of Media.
Events such as these often use poster printing to promote themselves throughout the college and surrounding communities.
The first will be a meeting of the Teachers as Scholars (TAS) Group, which provides opportunities for teachers of grades kindergarten through 12 to engage in scholarly research and explore exciting new ideas with professors at the college. The goal is for teachers to find innovative ideas for collaboration with the college and each other.
This month’s topic is on Central America and the traumas of history. The meeting will be held in the Scheuer Room in Kohlberg Hall on Monday, February 3 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Swarthmore College also hosts a popular Second Tuesday Café series, with this year’s theme using a Quizzo-style approach. Participatory quizzes are prepared by faculty based on their area of expertise. Members of the audience work in teams and use devices to respond to questions in the quizzes. Topics can range from literature, to technology, to medicine.
The first in the series for the spring semester will be on February 11, led by Andrew Ward from the psychology department. It will take place in the Scheuer Room from noon to 1:00 pm and lunch will be provided.
