Theater in Bristol to undergo major enhancements

A significant renovation, along with extensive upgrades, will be taking place at the Bristol Riverside Theatre along the Delaware River later this year.

Among the improvements will be enhancements to the interior with state-of-the-art theatrical lighting and sound systems; new carpeting, seating, and railings along the aisles; and an expanded concession area. There will also be a new front entryway lined with windows to attract and welcome audiences, and updated electrical and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

The exterior of the building will also be renovated with a new roof and façade, better accessibility for wheelchairs at the main entrance, and a revamped loading dock. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform both residents and visitors of important projects like this.

The architects of the project are USA Architects, based in Somerville, and the contractor is Sweetwater Construction Corp., based in Cranbury. A grant of $2 million from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) from the state is funding the renovation project.

Production director of the Bristol Riverside Theatre, Ken Kaissar, expressed his gratitude to officials from the state and locally for their support, and added his excitement about this project for the enhanced experience of live theater and the arts that await audiences.

Work on the building will begin once the current production season ends on Sunday, June 2.
