Bucks County Community College will be offering a Nurse Aide Training Program this fall at its three campuses, including Bristol.
The program is available in both an 8-week and a 12-week format. Classes at the Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks in Bristol will be held during the evenings and on the weekends.
Daytime classes will be offered at the other campuses—Upper Bucks and Newtown—and will take place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, or 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Clinical sessions for all campuses will be held on the weekends from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and take place in Bucks County at a long-term care facility.
The program consists of classroom instruction, experience in the laboratory, and hands-on training at a clinical site in the area over a period of 120 hours. Brochure printing can be used to provide greater details about the courses and course material covered in such programs. Once the program has been completed, students will be able to take a national assessment examination, which will then allow them to enroll in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has given its approval for the program.
Program Coordinator, Karen Souvigney, said that a nurse aide assists in many healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and home care, and are often the ones who provide treatment at the bedside.
