New trades program to be offered in Bristol

Bucks County Community College (BCCC) has launched the Building and Construction Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program in collaboration with the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council, with the first students starting next month.

This program is the first ever in the state and will last 11 weeks. Students will be able to learn many skills of the building trades from experts in the industry with extensive experience. This program will be offered to students at the Center for Advanced Technologies on the Bristol campus in Lower Bucks County at no charge. It is funded through a PAsmart grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

The curriculum will provide the needed education so that graduates can apply for a Registered Apprenticeship Program and find high-paying jobs in the construction industry. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such programs, their offerings, and potential benefits for students.

President of BCCC, Dr. Felicia L. Ganther, said the college is proud to partner with the Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council so that it can provide students with relevant and meaningful career opportunities.

The first eight students of the BCCC Pre-Apprenticeship Program will begin on Monday, April 10. Under the current grant funding, it is expected that the program will have as many as 32 students over the next two years.
