Dad’s Hat Pennsylvania Rye’s Tasting Room is now open in Bristol.
Herman Mihalich and John Cooper started Dad’s Hat as Mountain Laurel Spirits in 2011 in Bristol, and it became the first distillery to make rye whiskey in Pennsylvania since 1990. Tours are still held there but there was a desire to expand the business to another location on Mill Street in order to showcase whiskeys and reach more customers.
Mihalich said that opening the location on Mill Street provides more visibility to the brand and is a way to introduce it to the community. Brochure printing can also be employed to provide more details about such establishments, their history, and their offerings. He added that the tasting room has a speakeasy atmosphere so people can order a drink and learn more about the history of whiskey. The idea was not to be a sports bar but a place to enjoy a drink and relax.
Len Boris will lead the tasting room on Mill Street. He has 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Boris said that the tasting room will be a welcoming place for those who love whiskey, as well as for newcomers to experience the enticing cocktails and ensuing fun. The tasting room is open Thursday through Sunday,
Tours will continue at the distillery on Canal Street, with the cost being $10 per person.
