New skate plans for fall opening

Construction is currently underway on a new skate park in Middletown. Residents of Bristol may want to take advantage of this park once it is opened.

The park, which will be 8,600 square feet in size, will be located at the Community Park in Middletown. It is being built by 5th Pocket Skateparks, based in Langhorne, and will be for use by BMX bikes and skateboards. The project will also include an interactive kickball wall, new surfacing for the playground in the park, and fitness equipment for seniors.

The community can be kept informed of such projects and how they are progressing through banner printing.

The total cost for the project is $325,000. Donations in the amount of $72,000 have been raised by a committee to pay for the park, with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources providing a matching $250,000 grant, and the rest to be paid for by the town.

Supervisor Amy Strouse expressed her happiness that a builder of skate parks which is nationally recognized would be interested in building this facility which is so much wanted by the community. She added that the community has been very engaged throughout the entire process of getting the skate park built.

The park is expected to be completed in October. It is replacing one that lasted for 13 years and was shut down when the skate surface became cracked and uneven due to damage.
