The Heritage Conservancy is partnering with the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library in Bristol to add four Backpacks with nature themes to the collection of materials to be circulated.
Each backpack is designed to create an appreciation of the Bristol Marsh and of the greater outdoors, and includes two children’s Books focusing on the natural environment, a bug box with magnifier, a magnifying glass, and compact binoculars, as well as field guides to the birds, wildlife, and wildflowers of Pennsylvania. Print shops can be hired to create mailers to inform residents of new materials such as these.
Another backpack available for checkout is NASA-themed and comes with a working telescope and guides to view the night sky. Other items for checkout from the library include an assortment of board games; ukuleles with picks, Print music, and instructions; themed collections of DVDs; and binge Boxes. These can be reserved online and picked up at the library.
The Heritage Conservancy has its headquarters in Doylestown and is a conservator organization. Community based and nationally recognized, its mission is to protect and preserve the historic and natural heritage of the counties of Montgomery and Bucks, in which Bristol is located. The goal behind the funding provided for these new Backpacks is to encourage everyone to explore the outdoors and garner an appreciation for historic and natural areas.
