Lawns in Bristol to get pollinator garden makeover

One acre at the Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve and one and a half acres at Mill Creek Elementary School in Bristol Township will be converted into pollinator gardens by the Heritage Conservancy.

The Heritage Conservancy, a non-profit organization, holds conservation easements in Bristol Township, Bristol Borough, and a site in Doylestown Township. The pollinator project will be funded by $62,000 in funds from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The grants manager for the Heritage Conservancy, Joe Ganguzza, expressed his excitement about collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders to convert these properties to pollinator meadows. He added that they are looking forward to building on their success in the past in converting such meadows and expanding throughout the area of Bucks County. He said that this project will offer flood mitigation, provide needed habitat for wildlife, have many ecological benefits for the community, and offer educational opportunities for students and others in the community.

Banner printing can be used in such areas to inform residents of upcoming projects and their value for an area.

State Senator Steve Santarsiero said that the conversion of these lawns to pollinator meadows will benefit the natural environment and wildlife. He added that the commitment of the Heritage Conservancy to expand and preserve these habitats will produce both excellent educational opportunities and ecological benefits within the community.
