Sal’s Italian Deli has opened its first brick and mortar shop in Bristol on Durham Road.
The store formerly operated out of the Total Liquidators in Bristol and closed in August 2022. Tony Canale is parenting with his son, Gaetano, to serve the cured meats, sandwiches, cheeses, homemade Italian specialties, and pizzas for which the shop is known.
Manu offerings at Sal’s include hoagies, hot sandwiches, cheesesteaks, pizza, chicken steaks, salads, homemade soups and pasta, appetizers, and desserts. Among the most popular items are the Roast Prok Sandwich, the Sicilian Hoagie, and Nonna’s Favorite, which is made with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, arugula, roasted peppers, and a balsamic glaze vinegar. The newest addition to the menu is Mariella’s Shrimp Sandwich.
Even well-known shops in such new locations can benefit from flyer printing to promote their shop and its many offerings.
Canale opened Italian Family Pizzeria in Bristol in 1979 and became successful when his wife, Nina, came to the United States from Italy in 1986, and brought over many Italian recipes. They sold the shop in 2016 and then started Sal’s Italian Deli in 2020. It developed a strong following among its customers.
Sal’s hours of operation are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sal’s offers delivery service during the lunch hours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
