A metalwork training program will be offered by Bucks County Community College for those who are under-employed or unemployed.
The program will last 12 weeks and is a full-time program, to be offered at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center of the college in Bristol. The focus of the program is on the fundamental concepts and hands-on skills of manufacturing and metalwork. Four days a week, classes will be held on campus and one day a week will be off-site for tours of companies.
Students who attend such programs often take away with them valuable information made possible by printing services.
Those who complete the program will receive a certificate, OSHA 10 forklift safety training and safety certification, and individual job placement services. The program is known to have a graduation and job placement rate of over 90 percent.
An information session needs to be attended by those who are interested in the program in order to apply and to determine if they can receive a full scholarship to the program. The regular tuition for the program is $6,000. Information sessions will be held on July 25 and August 1 where representatives of companies from the local area who have a need for such workers will be available to answer questions and assist in the selection process.
The program begins on Tuesday September 3.
