The Healthy Eating and Living Partnership (HELP) Center in Bristol has received federal funds in the amount of $200,000 to help families with food and other essentials of the household during the winter months.
The HELP Center spans 8,000 square feet and is in the Bristol Commerce Circle shopping center near the intersection of routes 413 and 13 in Bristol. It provides items such as clothes, cleaning supplies, food, and personal hygiene products to struggling families. It opened over two years ago and since then has distributed close to $2.3m worth of products, some of which have been donated by families in the area and others by retailers. Flyer printing is often used to provide a list of items that are available at such centers.
Three non-profit agencies run the HELP Center and include the United Way of Buck County, St. Mary Medical Center, Bucks County Opportunity Council.
President and CEO of the Bucks County United Way, Marissa Christie, said that the center is now able to meet the immediate needs of people in a dignified fashion. Christie said that the grant will also enable the center to connect children with early education programs and offer career services. Those who need supplies and other services need to contact the United Way and make an appointment to ensure that all items needed will be available and provided.
