Tom Wolf, the governor of Pennsylvania, has approved the expenditure of $36m to be awarded to 220 community revitalization projects throughout the state.
Bristol is one of the towns slated to receive some of this funding, which comes from the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). Bristol will be receiving $33,000 which will be used to help the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) to care for and feed families impacted by the events over the past year and a half. Families will be helped by the BCOC to recover from an economic standpoint. They will be assisted in finding jobs and will be able to attend training and other educational opportunities so they can attain job security. This will ultimately serve to stabilize the community.
The BCOC will also help those families dealing with food issues. Some of the funding will be used to address this problem. Poster printing can be used in needed locations so that such families learn how they can benefit from such resources.
There are 25 families who are scheduled to receive this assistance by December 31. The BCOC says that as a result of this funding, there will be improved job skills, increased income, and enhanced financial security, with many to receive an increase in income moving them above the poverty level by the end of June 2022.
