Bristol to host special horses on parade

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be coming to Bristol later this month.

A civic group, Raising the Bar, said that the horses will be parading in a special event. Raising the Bar member Bill Pezza said that the parade will make its way along Farragut Avenue to Pond, and then to Mill, down to the riverfront. An old-fashioned beer wagon will be pulled by the horses, and it will have cases of beer and an on-board Dalmatian.

The horses will be on display for a short time before they depart the borough. Ceremonial deliveries of beer will also be made to establishments in town.

Raising the Bar is also holding a lottery in which 10 people will have the chance to escort the horses during the parade. Those interested in signing up for this lottery can do so at the Bristol Antiques Market. More information about such parades and signing up for a lottery can be publicized throughout the community with flyer printing.

This is the first time the horses have appeared in the county in six years. The Budweiser Clydesdales first came to Bucks County in 2016, making stops in Bristol, Doylestown, Bensalem, and New Hope, among others during the month of September. The first appearances of the horses in the public were in 1933 and they have become a national tradition.

The Clydesdales will be parading in Bristol this Sunday, May 22.
