The repaving of the parking lot on Mill Street in Bristol is back on track after an Aqua water main of 20 inches was relocated.
Amanda Fuller, an engineer for Bristol, said that the work has been completed by Aqua and the contractor working on the parking lot project has returned to the job site. Ralph DiGuiseppe, Council President, said that it was important to complete the pipe work to avoid opening up the parking lot after it was finished.
Fuller added that the contractor will be completing the storm drain pipes and once the weather improves will also be replacing some of the curbing. Fuller said that many curb ramps, which are ADA-compliant, will be installed. Eventually the entire parking lot will be repaved. Poster printing is often used at such sites to inform the public of such projects and to keep them abreast of their progress.
The Pennsylvania Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program is funding the repaving project as it has awarded a grant of $1 million to Bristol to update the Mill Street Parking Lot and Waterfront Park. The grant is covering the stormwater upgrades, which are designed to reduce flooding, improving the landscaping, replacing the curbing, and repaving the parking lot.
Fuller thanked the borough for their patience with this project. She said that it is a challenging project but that hopefully the most difficult parts of it have been completed.
