Bristol starts program for pickup of recyclables
J.P. Mascaro and Sons has given the residents of Bristol new recycling carts as part of a program, which is optional.
Ralph DiGuiseppe, Borough Council President, explained that this program is completely voluntary on the behalf of residents and those who do not want to participate in the program are not required to do so. If the latter is the case, residents need to contact J.P. Mascaro and Sons directly to opt out of the program.
DiGuiseppe said that the carts will be emptied like other recyclables in the back of the truck. No automated arms will be used. J.P. Mascaro and Sons have warrantied the new carts and will replace them due to normal wear and tear. Recyclables will be picked up once a week.
DiGuiseppe said that for apartment buildings and commercial properties the number of carts that are provided will align with how many waste bills are paid. More information about such new programs can be found the website of the borough and with brochure printing that is available at the borough office for residents and businesses.
The contract worth $18 million between Bristol and J.P. Mascaro & Sons was signed last year and will last for five years. The borough of Bristol has used J.P. Mascaro & Sons for many years for picking up trash only.
