A grant from the Main Street Matters program will be awarded to Bristol Borough for projects in the community.
Bristol will receive $200,000 for decorative streetlight upgrades on Mill Street. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development is the administrator of these grants.
News of such awards and their benefits for a town are often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.
Governor Josh Shapiro said that there is a Main Street in every community in the Commonwealth and he knows from firsthand experience how important these streets are to the local economies. He added that the success of small businesses and the Main Streets is tied to the economic success of these cities and towns. This is why he had made it a priority to invest in the Main Streets across the state and provide a great deal of support for many projects in these cities and towns.
Rick Siger, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, said this program is one way to help downtown areas and Main Streets in the Commonwealth to become economic hubs and provide a higher quality of life for all the communities they represent.
This project was one of the 81 grants in the 2024-2025 state budget. A total of $20m was allocated to the projects.
