The federal government has awarded the town of Bristol $15.8m to enable it to respond to the impact of the events over the past year.
Randee Elton, Manager of the Township, said that some of the funds will go towards covering a loss in the town of $2.4 million last year. Another $150,000 will be reserved for the Community Alliance for Progressive Action, which works with non-profit organizations and school districts to provide education based on the arts in afterschool programs for local children.
An amount of $418,000 will be split among the five volunteer fire companies over a period of three years. The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad and the Bucks County Rescue Squad, the two rescue squads in town, will share $92,000 a year for 36 months. Elton said this will mitigate the need to raise taxes to fund these squads.
Another $11.6m will be used for enhancements to the stormwater and sanitary systems in town, which need repair. These systems will be upgraded.
To inform residents of such funding and how it will be used throughout town, municipalities often turn to local Print shops to create Flyers and other materials with more details about what they are doing.
Elton added that many infrastructure improvements need to be made and these will be prioritized in the upcoming months.
