Bank in Bristol to support mural

A new mural will be created at the branch of the William Penn Bank in Bristol.

The theme for the mural is the song, “Bristol Stomp,” performed by The Dovells and a Billboard Hot 100 song in 1961. The song now is one of the symbols of the borough and has been immortalized by a model of two dancers doing the Bristol Stomp created by Bridget Ennis Shaw, a local artist, and this provides the inspiration for the new mural.

The bank is at the corner of Old Route 13 and Market Street and the mural will face Grundy Tower and Old Route 13. It will be 28 feet wide and 24 feet tall. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform the community of such projects.

The artist for the mural will be Tony Napoli who has been an art teacher for many years in the Pennsbury School District. John Ennis, a native of Bristol and nationally-known portrait artist, and AnnieRose Kruzinski, a resident of Bristol and former student of Napoli’s, will be assisting him with the mural.

CEO of William Penn Bank, Ken Stephon, said the bank had moved its headquarters to the borough, and he wanted some way to give back to what has been a welcoming community.

The mural is expected to be completed later this month.
