Generation-defining band performs in Salem

Salem is about to host the legendary rock group The Beach Boys at the upcoming Oregon State Fair as part of the Columbia Bank Concert Series.

With their signature harmonized vocals, The Beach Boys topped the charts with pop classics like Good Vibrations and California Girls in the 1960s. The band reunited periodically to release new music, as late as the 2012 album That’s Why God Made the Radio, released for the band’s 50th anniversary.

The concert stop in Salem comes after the passing of The Beach Boys founding member and creative driving force Brian Wilson, who died on June 11. Despite this and the previous passing of original members — Wilson’s brothers Carl in 1998 and Dennis in 1988 – the band continues to perform with a new lineup of musicians to this day.

Al Jardine is a co-founding member of The Beach Boys, who was one of Wilson’s closest friends and touring companion until the end. Upon Wilson’s death, Jardine said his former classmate and football teammate continues to bless him, even after death.

Concerts like this may choose to use banner printing for making marquees, promotion, walking signs, or stage decoration.

The Beach Boys are performing on Monday, September 1 from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Oregon State Fair at the L.B. Day Amphitheater at 2330 17th St. NE in Salem.
