Salem is welcoming a Fall Festival and Clothing Swap at the Center 50+ this October.
True to the spooky season spirit, it’s also an event in which costumes are encouraged, as they will also be among the items people can bring to swap with others, in time for Halloween.
The free event will also have a professional photographer on site, ready to take fall-themed photos of participants, complete with a pumpkin patch backdrop.
The clothing accepted for the swap includes children sizes 4T-teen. The clothing brought to the event should be, at most, gently used, organizers said.
The festival is put on by the South Central Association of Neighbors (SCAN) in Salem. Participants are asked to drop off their swappable clothing in advance, beginning on October 1, at the Center 50+. People who require extra coordination for dropping off donations are asked to contact SCAN.
The group of neighbors that make up South Central Salem, of which the SCAN oversees, is lined with trees on the streets, trails for walking, businesses, big parks and historic sites. As part of its duties as a neighborhood association, SCAN also hosts events such as neighbor meetings.
