Salem’s Historic Grand Ballroom is hosting an improv comedy show with a unique twist this April.
Called The Wishing Tree, the performance carries the theme of making “Dreams Come True.”
Using comedic actors who specialize in improvisation, performers will create scenes and act them out based on audience suggestions that center on their dreams coming true.
Whether it’s a desire to become rich and famous or simply hoping for the job promotion to come through, nothing is off the table for the wide array of dreams that people may wish for.
The show has a focus on not only making people laugh but also making people think by acting out scenes that highlight the complications that can arise from pursuing one’s dreams, no matter what the cost.
The only criterion is that the audience member must submit wishes for things they aspire to, either for themselves or others, from unrequited love to artistic fulfillment and everything in between.
With the suggestions submitted anonymously, actors play out the scenarios in which the dream in question comes true, using nothing but the prompt, the limitlessness of imagination, and the unexpected directions scenes may take through the collaboration of other actors.
Comedy shows like this may choose to use Print shops to create paper slips for audience suggestions, Posters or programs.
The Wishing Tree: The Improv Show That Makes Your Dreams Come True is happening on April 3 at 8 pm at Salem’s Historic Grand Ballroom at 191 High Street NE in Salem.
