Upcoming annual art fair among the best in the country

The 19th annual Art in the Pearl fine arts and crafts festival is taking place across this Labor Day weekend in Portland.

The festival has been named one of the ‘Top 10 Arts and Crafts Festivals’ in the United States by the Art Fair Source Book.

There will be over 100 artists on hand to sell a variety of handmade items such as paintings, prints, fiber art, and ceramics. There will also be demonstrations of skills such as blacksmithing, sculpture, and wood turning.

The Education Pavilion will have several hands-on art activities for people of all ages, including screenprinting with New Avenues Ink and African crafts presented by the Ko-Falen Cultural Center. Entertainment will take place on the singer/songwriter stage; artists such as Matt Meighan, Beth Wood, and Mark MacMinn will be performing. Other performers will include the belly dance troupe Gypsy Heart.

Food and drinks will also be available for purchase over the three days.

Those who are interested in the arts and graphic design will likely be interested in attending this annual Portland festival.

The event will be held in the North Park Blocks of Portland from September 3 to 5, getting started at 10:00 AM on each day. Admission is free of charge. To find out more about this event, call 503-722-9017.
