The Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is preparing for its second season with a league expansion from four teams to six teams being recently announced. During the AUSL’s inaugural season its four original teams – the Chicago Bandits, Oklahoma City Spark, Carolina Blaze, and Texas Volts – toured the country playing softball in 10 U.S. cities.
In addition to welcoming back those four outfits, the league will have two new teams in its 2026 season – the Portland Cascade and the Utah Talons. Talking about the new season AUSL Commissioner Kim Ng stated:
“The athletes are excited about getting into home markets and having hometown crowds. That’s where you can draw the strongest connections, when you have a consistent presence and fans can get to know who those players are.”
Professional sports teams partnering with local Print shops can create sports merchandise.
A recent announcement from the AUSL revealed that The Cascade will, starting in June, be playing its home games at nearby Hillsboro Ballpark. Women’s professional sports have proved successful in Portland too, with Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League repeatedly breaking attendance records.
In addition to the Cascade’s inaugural season, the city will also welcome the latest addition to the Women’s National Basketball Association – Portland Fire. Perhaps not surprisingly, the country’s first bar exclusively televising women’s sports, The Sports Bra, is located in right here in Portland.
