Cultural festival celebrates frybread in Portland

A celebration of Native American culture and heritage is coming to Portland in a few weeks, giving area residents the opportunity to learn more about the region’s tribes and history.

Frybread Fest 2025 has announced a date on the calendar, giving interested parties who want to learn more about Oregon’s Native American tribes a family-friendly setting for immersion and fun. The experience will be built around indigenous music, food, and culture. The music will be brought to visitors by Wen'ípt, a contemporary jazz combination of indigenous descent. They will be supported by Turquoise Pride Drummers.

In addition to the musical performances, guests will get to hear traditional lore and stories from Karen Kitchen and Ed Edmo. Cultural demonstrations will also be held, granting access to workshops such as beading and regalia-making, led by Becca Lynn. Banner printing is a notable way to promote such festivals and events to passersby while welcoming registered guests in a memorable way.

The star of the festival will be frybread, with four vendors confirming they will attend the 2025 festival. Artisans and local vendors will have booths to showcase their handcrafted goods and products.

Director Park in downtown Portland will host the cultural festival, which has been confirmed for Saturday, November 8. The gates will open at 11:00 AM. Interested parties can RSVP online.
