Schnitzer Hall to host live holiday music
Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall is offering five opportunities to revel in holiday nostalgia and get into the seasonal spirit.
The season starts off with a classic, Handel’s “Messiah” performed by the Oregon Symphony, accompanied by four soloists and the PSU Chamber Choir. This is at 7:30 pm on December 4 and 6, and 2:00 pm on December 5.
The next event is “Comfort and Joy: A Classic Christmas”, a classic Christmas singalong with the Oregon Symphony, which will be held at 7:30 pm on December 8.
For those who love gospel music, there will be three performances of Gospel Christmas with the Oregon Symphony featuring the Northwest Community Gospel Chorus. This, the 22nd year of the gospel Christmas celebration, will be held on December 10 to 11 at 7:30 pm, and December 12 at 4:00 pm.
Next will be two one-performance events. First is “It’s a Wonderful Life in Concert” on December 13 at 7:30 pm. This family-friendly Christmas classic starring Jimmy Stewart is accompanied by the Oregon Symphony. Then, on December 15 at 7:30 pm, José Hernández leads the Mariachi Sol De Mexico, as it performs “A Very Merry Christmas Concert” celebrating the Christmas traditions of Mexico, featuring classical, jazz, pop, swing, and show tunes.
Guests should remember that masks, proof of vaccination, or negative COVID tests may be required, and this is the sort of information many venues are reminding attendees of with the help of poster printing companies.
