What's Happening in Portland, OR…

Portland welcomes apple season

Locals can enjoy all things related to apples at an upcoming event.

The 28th Annual Portland Apple Tasting Event offers the chance to taste more than 60 types of apples and pears. A flyer printing service was likely asked to make promotional handouts for the event.

The free event will have apples and pears for sale. There will also be a cider press demonstration. Attendees can listen to live entertainment from bands like Stolen Sweets, Trashcan Joe, and The Runaway Ranch Band.

Individuals can enter the event’s Scarecrow Contest for a variety of prizes. Entrants can drop off their scarecrows until October 8, and the winners will be chosen on October 17.

Children can enjoy the Kids’ Tent, where there will be an opportunity to paint pumpkins, play games, go on a scavenger hunt, or get their faces painted. On certain days, there will be coloring, a puppet show, or a variety show.

Those who donate at least three nonperishable items to the Oregon Food Bank donation bin will be entered into the raffle to win a Portland Nursery gift card.

It all takes place from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on October 9 through 11, along with October 16 through 18. On October 14, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, the site will host Elder Day for seniors with special discounts and activities. In addition, the October 16 will be reserved for field trips.

The event will be held at the Portland Nursery, located on 5050 Southeast Stark.
