Portland to Seattle in 35 minutes with new flight service

Those making the commute to Seattle have found it to be an arduous one; a public charter operator, JSX, has taken measures to make the trip easier.

Recently, JSX announced that flight service between Portland and Seattle is scheduled to commence in April. Five times a day a small, 30-passenger plane will depart Portland International Airport for Boeing Field.

When entering a new market, companies, particularly those that interact directly with the public, sometimes include the distribution of promotional products in their marketing strategy.

In a report, the US Department of Transportation found that flights under 500 miles have fallen off even while air travel over all since 2000 has gone up by 20%. Travelers note the inconvenience and unpleasantness of airline travel as their chief reason for avoiding the airport.

At only 30 passengers maximum per flight, pre-boarding checks are faster, while high-tech security protocols such as magnetic sensors and smart cameras eliminate the need for invasive security procedures. At the least, an hour is saved in the boarding process while still complying with Transportation Security Administration standards.

The Portland to Seattle flight takes around 35 to 40 minutes and lands passengers 15 minutes from downtown. Unlike the $1,300 to $3,500 per flight-hour that charter services charge, JSX seats start at $49 with the average round trip costing $130.
