Pop culture convention returns to Portland

The Wizard World Comic Con is coming back to Portland for three days next month. It is a celebration of science fiction, fantasy and the popular culture of TV and movies.

As with all conventions of this type, there is always a large list of celebrity guests. This year is no exception. Among those appearing are Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox from “Chips”, John Barrowman and Stephen Amell from “Arrow”, Nichelle Nichols, Barry Bostwick, Christopher Lloyd, David Duchovny and Dean Cain. Each of the celebrities will be posing for photographs and signing autographs. They will also take part in several discussion panels.

Other things going on around the convention will include gaming tournaments and two cosplay costume contests - one for adults and one for kids.

A popular draw is always the vendor’s room, which is set to feature an artist alley. Vendors will be selling a variety of related items including photographs, action figures, movies, books and posters.

This event will be likely advertised quite strongly in Portland. This may include the distribution of posters and flyers.

The Wizard World Comic Con will be held at the Oregon Convention Center from February 17 to 19. Ticket prices start at $39.95; several special VIP experiences are also available. To get the most up-to-date information about the convention, visit the official website.
