Grand Army Tavern to add pasta restaurant

Located in Northeast Portland, the neighborhood cocktail bar and restaurant is adding a pasta restaurant, Campana, at its current location in September.

Campana was inspired by the Grand Army Tavern’s occasional pasta nights. The restaurant will serve what are traditionally the most popular pasta dishes such as a rigatoni with pork ragu, spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna made with spinach pasta and a mushroom ragu and béchamel.

Other items on the menu include a grilled albacore joined with uccelletto beans and salmoriglio, a pork loin cutlet and beef cheeks in Barolo. A simple, yet elegant trio of Italian dessert will be available: an olive oil cake featuring pine nuts plus seasonal fruit, a ricotta cheesecake and a chocolate panna cotta.

Flyer printing is often viewed as the best way to advertise a substantial change an eating establishment has made. Their low cost and flexibility of distribution enables establishments to grow their new endeavor at a manageable rate.

Campana’s co-owners came here from New York City four years ago. George Kaden worked at Hearth under Chef Marco Canora and Annalisa Maceda managed a high-volume cocktail bar, The Tippler, at Manhattan’s Chelsea Market.

Kaden and Maceda plan to start slowly with only three nights of service a week. Preview dinners will start next month at 901 N.E Oneonta Street in the Grand Army Tavern’s front room.
