Giant Pumpkin Regatta in Portland
Advertised as the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, a nearly 20-year-old tradition at nearby Tualatin Common Lake attracts many Portland residents.
The late autumn Regatta takes place about a dozen miles from Portland and draws large crowds from throughout the area. More than just a race featuring large gourds, the event begins with a parade showing off giant pumpkins and a weigh-off to determine the heaviest pumpkin.
Paddlers in hollowed-out pumpkins compete in heats throughout the day in shallow Tualatin Common Lake. Meanwhile, back on dry land, attendees can enjoy live music, a costume contest, pumpkin carving, face painting, pumpkin golf, pumpkin races, pumpkin bowling and a pie-eating contest.
Banner printing services are helpful to event planners wishing to promote their events ahead of time, as well as marking their location on the day they take place, making it easier for attendees to find them.
The West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta is a free family-friendly event and just one of many autumn adventures available to Portland residents throughout the Willamette Valley, which include farm produce stands and autumn foliage drives and hiking options.
The Regatta event takes place from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, October 22. Admission is free, and food will be on hand for purchase. The pumpkin races are scheduled for noon and 2pm. The Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers are the supplier of the Giant Pumpkins featured in the Regatta.
