Vintage trolley line opens from Lake Oswego to Portland

The full route of the Willamette Shore Trolley is now operational.

This route is a round trip of 10.5 miles from Lake Oswego beginning on N. State Street and heading to southwest Portland on Bancroft Road. The trolley will run on Saturdays and Sundays leaving Lake Oswego at noon, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm, and departing from Portland at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm.

Round trip fares are $30 for adults between 13 and 64 years old, $18 for seniors, $10 for children between 2 and 10 years old, and lap sitters under the age of two are free. Purchasing tickets in advance is recommended as tickets on a walk-up basis will be limited to a first come, first served basis.

The ride is on a historic rail line built in the late 1800s with a tunnel dating from 1921. There were electrified interurbans running on this line from Portland to Oswego and McMinnville, Hillsboro, and Corvallis at one time in the past. The trolley is a replica in the style of the Council Crest Cars of Portland. More information about initiatives like this is often made available with brochure printing.

The trolley originally served as a red electric train service running throughout the region. The line was preserved by a consortium in the late 20th Century, which enabled the Willamette Shore Trolley to open.
