Lake Oswego develops survey on landscaping equipment

The Lake Oswego City Council has put together a survey to gather residents’ views on the use of landscaping equipment, as the city looks to phase out use of lawn and yard care equipment powered by gas.

As responses to the survey are collated and reviewed, another goal is to identify possible educational programs and incentives that could ease the transition to landscaping equipment powered by batteries, electricity, and other alternatives that are more sustainable than equipment powered by gas.

There are two version of this survey – one for property managers and residents, and another for landscaping businesses. The survey will gather their perspectives and experiences on the transition from landscaping equipment powered by gas to that powered by electricity.

Local Print shops can help spread the word about filling out such surveys with Posters, Flyers, and other printed materials, as well as helping to circulate printed Copies of surveys to residents and businesses.

Lake Oswego has no formal regulations regarding the use of gas-powered landscaping equipment, but it does encourage the public to use lawn care practices that are sustainable, including using tools powered by batteries or electricity and limiting the use of pesticides.

The survey can be found on the City of Lake Oswego website, and responses to it need to be submitted by Tuesday, September 30.
