New initiatives have been approved by the Lake Oswego City Council, with specific targets outlined for the upcoming year.
To strengthen the public trust, the council plans to hire a new attorney for the city and a new city manager. The city pro-tem manager, Lynn Peterson, reiterated a priority to explore a strategic plan for a community space and a library on the west side of the city.
There is a bond measure coming up on the ballot in May to support the financing of the South Shore Fire Station. In addition, the council is looking to work with those who own the Oswego Pioneer Cemetery on Stafford Road to transfer its ownership to the city.
Among its sustainability goals are to update the tree code of the city, including adopting a strategy to reduce the effects of emerald ash borer insects on trees on city-owned property. The council is also looking to support efforts to connect the trail of the Willamette River Greenway between Roehr and George Rogers parks.
The city also plans to continue its partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and other partners in the community to promote the city as a destination for dining, shopping, visiting, and enjoying events and the arts. Local Print shops can help with such efforts with the creation of eye-catching Brochures, Flyers, and other materials to help attract visitors to the community.
