Emergency preparation fair to be held in Lake Oswego

Lake Oswego will be holding an Emergency Preparedness Fair later this month.

This fair will take place throughout City Hall and in the upper parking lot. This event is free and is designed to be a family-friendly event. There will be over 20 information booths, interactive activities, and live demonstrations.

Attendees can learn how they and their families can be “2 Weeks Ready” and how to plan for one’s pet during a disaster. The Lake Oswego Fire Department will hold session on how to control sever bleeding in emergencies and will also be joined by the Lake Oswego Amateur Radio Emergency Service to share information about share license-free radio options and how once can be a licensed operator as well.

Attendees will also learn how to efficiently and properly fill a sandbag and stack them for optimal protection against floodwater. There will also be support dogs that have been specially trained and a demonstration of the Portable Emergency Water Distribution Station.

Kids will learn how to exit their home safely after a fire, be able to navigate the fire safety obstacle course, and tour emergency vehicles including a police car, fire truck, and snowplough.

Local pint shops can assist with such fairs by creating Brochures and handouts with more information about such safety topics.

The Emergency Preparedness Fair will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18.
