School renovations and construction make progress in Lake Oswego

Many construction projects in the Lake Oswego School District are making excellent progress or nearing completion.

Updates about such projects are often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.

Outdoor classrooms are being added to Lakeridge High School. These classrooms will enable the science curriculum at the school to expand and will highlight the overlap between offerings in career and technical education and regular science classes. These state-of-the-art learning greenhouses will have features that can be customized for students such as removable cooling walls and shades for different climate needs. There will be gardening plots and raised beds outside the greenhouses for student projects.

Executive Director of Project Management for the district, Tony Vandenberg, said that these new classrooms will enable the program to expand and provide more opportunities for advanced agricultural learning.

The culinary arts kitchen space in the high school is a also being renovated with fire suppression hoods, six cooking stations with full induction burners, preparation and dishwashing stations.

Construction of the new Rivergrove Primary School is underway. The school is part of the sustainability goals of the district and will be completely electric with no fossil fuels and a battery backup system. The school also features gable roofs that highlight each individual section of the school and will fit in with the architecture of the school’s residential neighborhood. The school is scheduled to be completed in spring 2024 and to open in the fall 2024.
