The work of over 30 artists is now on display at the ArtSpace Gallery on State Street, part of the Arts Council of Lake Oswego.
The curator and program manager for the council, Morgan Ritter, said that the “center,” upon which these works are based, is where gatherings occur, it is where all attention is focused and activity flows outward from. He added that there is also a political side to this theme, and it is designed to have a calming effect.
Sue Taylor, an exhibit juror and art historian, conveyed her excitement about seeing such a variety of talent in this exhibit, with artists taking pride in their work and demonstrating the many ways of expressing their emotions. The title of the exhibit, “A Distance Center,” is derived from the poem “A Center,” by poet Ha Jin.
Ritter added that there are close to 50 original and unique pieces of artwork on display, at this relativelt small gallery. He noted that what makes this exhibit so interesting is the wide range of artists who have taken the time to contribute.
Poster printing is often used to let those in the community know about such unique exhibits.
The Gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, as well as by appointment. The exhibit runs through Friday, October 25.
