The Friends of Luscher Farm will be hosting an Invasive Removal and Cleanup at the Luscher Community Gardens in Lake Oswego later this month.
The plan is to transform this space, near the northeast corner of the community gardens, into an outdoor learning area for classes and summer youth camps. The existing space covers 300 square feet.
Three work parties are planned for this project, and this is the first one. This one and the next one will focus on cleanup such as clearing debris and removing invasive plants. The last one will add the finishing touches and spread wood chips over the area.
Those who plan to participate in this event should bring work gloves, a water bottle, pruners and loppers, and wear close-toed shoes.
More details about such events and what they entrail can be made known throughout a city and neighboring communities with poster printing.
Luscher Farm was once a diary operation and was purchased by the city of Lake Oswego in 1990. The city maintains the buildings and property as an example of agriculture with the goal of educating the public about the production of organic plants and local food. Luscher Farm today is home to a variety of sustainable and organic farming and gardening programs.
This event will be on Sunday March 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
