The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce has recently handed out several honors, including the Century Award, the Dee Denton Business of the Year, and the Community Leader of the Year.
News of such awards and the contributions of the recipients to the community is often made known with poster printing.
The Century award was given to the Lake Oswego Review. Kelly’s Jelly received the Dee Denton Business of the Year Award, and Lal Bhatia, member of the Rotary Club of Lake Oswego, received the Community Leader of the Year Award.
In 2020, the Lake Oswego Review celebrated its 100th anniversary and was given the Century Award for its work in keeping readers informed for many years. Liz Hartman, CEO of the Chamber, said that a local newspaper is important as it engages, encourages, and enables people in the community.
Kelly and Adam Calabria founded Kelly’s Jelly. Their business started with one recipe and now every month they distribute 250,000 jars of jelly. Presenter Jay Halladay commented that often luck is the intersection of persistence, opportunity, and preparation, and the couple has used those ingredients to create a successful business.
Bhatia has played a significant role in jumpstarting training programs for students in 2019 in the Lake Oswego area through the Rotary. He is a member of the Lake Oswego Community Service Committee, the District Vocational Services and Business Ethics Committee, and the International Service Committee.
