Up-and-coming classical pianist to perform in Corvallis

A young pianist who is just starting what promises to be an exciting career will appear in Corvallis.

Martín García García won First Prize in the 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition (CIPC), playing with The Cleveland Orchestra. International Piano described his appearance as a “moving performance,” and he also won the Piano Duo Prize, the Chamber Music Prize, and the Audience Prize and the competition.

García García, who was born in Spain, achieved another milestone when he was awarded Third Prize at the International Chopin Competition, held in Poland. He won the Warsaw Philharmonic Prize for “Best Performance of a Concerto.” Both the Polish competition and the CIPC were held in 2021.

At his upcoming Corvallis concert, García García will play “Sposalizio” from “Années de Pèlerinage II, S.161” and the “Sonata in B Minor S.178,” both by Franz Liszt. He will also perform two works by Robert Schumann, “Three Fantasiestück Op. 111 No.2,” and “Symphonic Etudes Op. 13.”

In 2022, García García performed more than 70 times, appearing in Spain, Europe, Asia, and the United States, where he made his debut at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. He toured Japan successfully, drawing over 25,000 audience members to 14 performances.

García García will be at The LaSells Stewart Center as part of its Steinway Piano Series on Sunday, May 7. Audiences who attend events like this enjoy learning about the performer and the selections, which can be discussed in a program created by organizers using brochure printing.
