Multi-day festival planned in Corvallis

After a successful inaugural year in 2023, a major festival is returning to Corvallis.

The free Corvallis Celtic Festival celebrates musicians from throughout the area and music itself. Organizers are bringing 25 bands to the event, and 17 workshops will take place.

The headliner is Rakish, a guitar and fiddle duo based in Boston. They will perform at the PRAx concert hall, which was recently opened on the campus of Oregon State University. This concert is the only one at the festival for which there is an admission charge.

The fun begins on Thursday night with three bands based in Corvallis. The venue is Common Fields, downtown.

Friday brings the Rakish concert, and on Saturday and Sunday, events will center on Central Park. Bagpipe parades begin each day, and eight bands will play on Saturday, and four on Sunday.

Smaller performances featuring singers and storytellers will take place at the Corvallis library, which is also the location of workshops on singing, fiddle, beginning guitar and more. On Saturday, workshops include Cape Breton fiddle, Irish flute, and more, and will be held at the First Presbyterian Church.

There will be events at the Corvallis Art Center as well, which will be a dedicated space for harpists. Finally, children’s activities will be held in Central Park, as will jam sessions. Vendors will be on hand with Celtic goods.

The Corvallis Celtic Festival is July 25-28. Organizers of sizeable events like this will often use poster printing to create advertising for them.
