Celebrating fall in Corvallis

A popular festival with a twist is coming to Corvallis.

Oktoberfest is a traditional German harvest holiday that is popular around the world. Corvallis is putting its own spin on the festivities with its upcoming “Blocktoberfest.”

Block 15 Brewing is hosting the festival, which will include food carts, German food, face painting, a stein-holding competition, a spelling bee with German words, a big screen to watch college football, and live music. The live music lineup is Dopplebock, Alpine Echoes, the Polkaticians, and the Church Ladies. The Alpine Echoes frequently appear at local festivals and have been together for many years. The Church Ladies are also from Corvallis and blend genres into a neo-blues/alternative sound.

There are three sales packages available. The Half-Liter is $25 and entitles the purchaser to event entry, a half-liter mug and the first beer, and special Blocktoberfest merchandise. The Full-Liter is $35 and includes entry to the festival, a liter mug and the first beer, and special merchandise. Regular admission is $5 for anyone over 12 years of age. Wristbands will be distributed that will allow the wearer to enter the festival both days. Organizers of large events like this can use flyer printing to create a schedule for attendees.

The festival is Friday, October 6 from 4:00 pm until 11:00 pm, and Saturday, October 7 from 12:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Pre-sale packages will be on sale beginning September 11. Dopplebock appears on the Friday and the other three bands play the Saturday.
