Bluesy singer to appear in Corvallis

A man who has earned the right to sing the blues will be bringing his story to Corvallis.

Solomon King channels a wide variety of artists, including legends like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, and Lou Reed, and his music has elements of everything from classical music to the blues, R&B, and rock.

King worked in Detroit’s auto manufacturing plants and was immersed in the Motown and rock scene in Detroit. He took his guitar and moved west to California, where he found himself playing the blues in the “Hollywood Underground,” then went on to tour Israel, Australia, and Hawaii.

He began his recording career in 2008 with his album “Under the Sun.” Two tracks from that album, “Frankie and Johnnie” and “Jack Me Up” were used in the first season of “True Blood” on HBO. The album also won King a Grammy nomination for “Best Contemporary Blues Album.”

To date, King has released five albums. The latest is “Solomon King and the Chosen,” which received amazing reviews like this:

“No. 5' shows off the power of Solomon King & The Chosen in creating a world that is distinctly his own, a sheer fervor to it that draws the listener into his unique aural universe.”

Solomon King will be at Common Fields in Corvallis on Wednesday, July 26. When artists like this are slated to perform, concert promoters can use brochure printing to create programs.
