Presentation to explore lives of Bends winged residents

An opportunity to learn about Bend’s birds, their habits, lives, and the pressures they face has been included in the High Dessert Museum’s Natural History Pub evenings, and will be led by an area avian expert.

Elsie Wolf founded Native Bird Care, which is an avian rescue based in Sisters. She has created an audiovisual presentation that will explore native species and the challenges the organization faces in rehabbing injured or ill birds and then releasing them back into the wild.

The Bend area is home to a wide variety of native species of birds, ranging from tiny hummingbirds all the way to large swans and birds of prey. The audience can enjoy seeing photos of a selection of species cared for by the rescue, and there will even be videos shared of release sessions where the organization’s charges are returned to their natural habitats. Wolf will discuss why it is important to protect the area’s native avian residents and also how the public can get involved.

Those who sit in on this sort of seminar may appreciate receiving Booklets that include tips about caring for local wildlife, and these can be prepared for an evening like this by an area brochure printing company.

This opportunity to learn about Bend’s avian residents is set to be held on January 6. It will be on offer at McMenamins Old St. Francis School.
