Unique take on holiday tale comes to Bend

The Cascades Theatrical Company is putting a local spin on a classic holiday tale when Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Bend Christmas Show comes to Bend this fall.

The musical take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol reimagines the story with a few tweaks, including incorporating the Cascades Theatre itself into the narrative. The show features familiar characters from the original novella, including Scrooge himself, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

With a concise runtime of an hour and a half, the stage show directed by Marilyn Magness and written by Gordon Greenberg and Steven Rosen maintains a brisk pace throughout the unfolding of the story.

The show, which culminates in an audience singalong, takes the classic Christmas story and places it in Bend as its setting, with inside references as a wink and nod to locals.
