Comedy legends take the stage in Bend

Bend’s Hayden Homes Amphitheater is hosting a trio of comedy legends when John Mulaney, Fred Armisen and Mike Birbiglia perform this May.

With Mulaney headlining, the performance comes after the Emmy Award-winning writer, comedian and actor successfully launched his new talk show on Netflix, Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney.

The performance in Bend comes as part of his current stand-up tour, John Mulaney: Mister Whatever.

A special guest at the event, Fred Armisen is a well-known name in the comedy world in his own right and even recently starred alongside Mulaney in the Broadway play All In: Comedy About Love. Like Mulaney, Armisen’s breakthrough into the mainstream was through his tenure on Saturday Night Live, followed by movie and TV appearances, including the absurdist sketch comedy show Portlandia.

Birbiglia is also a nationally recognized comedic voice who carved his own path through solo performances, mixing both stand-up comedy and memoir, including The Good Life, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend and Sleepwalk With Me, the latter of which was adapted into a film. He’s appeared in other acting roles, including in the film Trainwreck and the TV show Orange is the New Black.

Comedy shows like this may choose to use flyer printing to create low-cost promotions in the community.

John Mulaney, with special guests Fred Armisen and Mike Birbiglia, is performing on May 16 at 8 pm at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater at 344 SW Shevlin Hixon Dr. in Bend.
