A fundraiser will bring Bend together to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health, and depending on the most current directives, it will be held either in person or online.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is open to any who are interested, and the participants will be able to walk, run, or use a mobility device to take on the challenge. Registration is free of charge, and it was noted by the organizers that, as the global pandemic has been a difficult time for many, they feel this event is especially important.
The participants will be able to get involved in a variety of ways, and even if an in-person option is available, anyone who would prefer to participate on their own will be able to do so. To help raise awareness, the attendees are asked to wear “honor beads,”, as these will indicate why they have chosen to walk. The function will be held at Pilot Butte Community Park, and along with raising money, the walkers, runners and rollers will be showing those who are struggling that their community cares.
The support of the public for this activity will be greatly appreciated. To thank participants for their generosity, anyone who raises $150 or more by September 18 will receive a T-shirt that sports the function’s official graphic design.
The Out of the Darkness funding and awareness raiser will be held on September 18. Anyone who is interested is advised to visit its online listing for more information.
