Santa-themed bike ride boosts festive atmosphere in Springfield

A Santa-themed bike ride is in the works for Springfield residents who want to dress as Santa Claus and ride through the streets of downtown to celebrate the holidays.

The Tomfoolery Takeover at Santa Con will begin welcoming participants in a few weeks. It will provide Springfield residents with a memorable way to celebrate the approaching holiday season with friends and family.

The gathering aims to combine adventure and dancing for participants to enjoy before meeting up at a local brewery.

The event is in the process of becoming an annual tradition in Springfield due in part to the supporters of Tomfoolery Outdoors. Organizers are altering the plan for the 2024 event by adding a bike ride to the mix. Riders will cover between eight and 10 miles of mostly flat terrain and will need to bring their bicycles. Banner printing is a welcoming and colorful way to promote event sponsors while greeting participants at the finish line.

After the ride, participants will be encouraged to assemble at 8:00 PM for a dance party. The show’s headliner will be announced in the coming days. Santa costumes are encouraged for all participants.

Mother Stewart’s Brewing will host the Santa Con and bike ride on Saturday, December 14, with the ride starting at 3:30 PM. Participation is donation-based, and interested parties can RSVP online.
